OUT NOW The Sheaves “Excess Death Cult Time” LP

The Sheaves are a five-piece from Phoenix, AZ who churn out a murky yet driving, melodic style of post-punk you don’t hear that often because, well, most bands can’t pull it off. Not exactly easy to write songs that make one think of The Fall, the Swell Maps, the Axemen, but also Chrome, the Frogs and even early Pavement, without just sounding like a tribute act. The five young men who make up the Sheaves have tapped into whatever those aforementioned bands had up their sleeves and effortlessly write catchy songs that defy post-punk expectations. You don’t know how much they groove until hours later when you’re humming “Lariat Slung” while mowing the lawn or nodding out on the subway on your way to work. Previously issued as a limited cassette by Arizona’s Moone Records, Minimum Table Stacks is proud to present a completely remastered (by Josh Stevenson at Otic Sound) and slightly reconfigured vinyl LP reissue of this, the Sheaves first proper full length. The cassette received acclaim everywhere from the pages of Maximum Rockandroll, Foxy Digitalis and Raven Sings the Blues, and multiple spins on WFMU, Dynamite Hemorrhage Radio and beyond. If those cretins at Terminal Boredom were still crawling they’d be declaring this one their modern day Spider 7″ or Human Eye LP. I would even consider stealing all of their money via a fraudulent pre-order. Limited to 300 copies, the LP comes with a two-sided insert with artwork by Sheaves lead vocalist/guitarist Eric Mudd. Pop on over to our Bandcamp to listen/buy, or buy a copy along with a bunch of other great distro stuff at our Big Cartel.
